Aspherix® goes GPU

Aspherix now offers a new GPU mode available for a selected feature set on Linux systems. This enables simulations to be performed on high-performance desktop machines with a GPU , leveraging modern hardware for significant speedups.


The animation shows one million particles of varying sizes being mixed in a helical mixer. The simulation was performed on a Desktop computer with a GPU.


New tutorial cases showcasing available functionalities are available (rotating drum, particle mixing with heat transfer).

Novel Roessler-Katterfeld Combined Wear Model

Aspherix 7.0.0 introduces the brand-new Roessler-Katterfeld combined wear model.


This model is designed to improve the accuracy of predicting wear in DEM simulations.


In the animation the calculated eroded volume is used to dynamically deform the geometry during the animation, offering a visual and quantitative representation of the wear process.

Ohmic Heating with Non-Spherical Particles

 The capability for Ohmic heating has been extended to include simulations with non-spherical particles


This enhancement allows for more realistic modeling of systems involving complex-shaped granular materials where electric current and subsequent thermal effects play a critical role.
